THE CHALLENGE
Officials estimate that there are over 3 million orphans in Kenya, many of them orphaned due to HIV/AIDS and others due to violence and other factors. One estimate is that 700 children become orphans every day (one child every 2 minutes!), many of them due to HIV/AIDS. Thinking about the numbers and suffering of these children can be overwhelming! Without parents and a secure home, these children are predisposed to poverty, exploitation, abuse, trafficking, drugs, and crime.
Mbita, Kenya
HIV remains especially prevalent in the Mbita area of western Kenya, where services for children are scarce. This area of tremendous need is where the ministry of Oasis of Hope Children’s Village is being started. We’re going where the need is the greatest!
Director of Oasis of Hope

Mark and Grace are a Kenyan couple who created the dream of the children's home in Mbita. At a very tender age, Mark joined the street kids in town due to proverty, but later he was rescued.
Mark received his diploma in theology and and Master's degree in in counseling psychology. Mark worked at the Kijabe Hospital for 12 years where he served as a chaplain. He is currently working at a children's home in Naomis working as the director of Spiritual care and counseling.
Mark heart is excited to begin a children's home in Mbita, Kenya since there is no home for orphaned children in this area. Mark has served as a pastor and has worked with an orphanage in Kenya for the past 20 years. His heart is in opening the children's home in Mbita for there is currently such a need in this location.
